Here’s Why Your Dryer is Noisy
If your dryer is noisy for an extended period, it may be a sign that something is impeding its regular operation. Noise generally indicates the need to replace or service certain parts of your dryer. Still, without some general knowledge, it can be hard to pinpoint what needs maintenance.
Here are some common causes for noisy dryers and how they can be resolved to reinstate your dryer’s normal function.
If Your Dryer is Squeaking
Squeaking coming from your dryer is often a sign of a malfunctioning idler pulley. This dryer part puts tension on the drum belt to prevent slipping while the dryer is spinning, and friction build-up causes the pulley to wear out over time.
Troubleshooting: Unplug the dryer and remove the front or lower access panel to see if this is the issue. You’ll find the idler pulley and shaft next to the drive motor.
